Good news for Louie Morelli fans: His creator, crime thriller author, Patricia Bellomo, has short stories available as downloads on her website for anyone who wants a quick “Louie Morelli fix”.
With titles like The First Kill, Angie’s Flirtation, Reflections on Murder, and Louie’s Double Date, the anecdotes highlight Louie’s early life, particularly in The First Kill. Louie’s Double Date and Reflections on Murder reveal scenes and excerpts from Patricia Bellomo’s books, Louie Morelli’s Daughter and Stella di Mare.
For anyone unfamiliar with Louie Morelli, he is Patricia Bellomo’s main character and an unlikely hero … a charismatic mobster with a larger than life presence.
Author, Patricia Bellomo, says, “Louie Morelli made his debut in a romance that I wrote and re-wrote in the early to mid-nineties. Fortunately, for my readers, the novel fizzled before it made it to print, but Louie Morelli, a shadowy, side character in the book, was born.”
Louie Morelli soon dominated the pages, as he does in Patricia Bellomo’s recently released Louie Morelli’s Daughter and her first published novel, Stella di Mare. In fact, Louie has his own blog on Patricia Bellomo’s website, and, according to the author, “It’s always Louie’s voice, never mine.”
It’s Louie’s presence one feels in Patricia Bellomo’s short stories, particularly in The First Kill, which is told in the first person, accenting a much younger Louie’s entry into the criminal world. What makes Louie so compelling is that he operates on a code of ethics, particularly in this short story where his adversary is so loathsome the reader can only hope Louie will deliver a vigilante-type justice.
Female readers might prefer and perhaps relate to Louie’s wife, Angie Morelli’s, idle flirtation in Angie’s Flirtation, a story told from Angie’s point of view and highlighting a restless period in her life, a sort of mid-life crisis. Particularly interesting is the relationship between Angie and Louie, a philanderer who expects virtue from his wife.

Robin and Larry had worked together in radio at WTMC in Ocala doing the morning drive for several years in the mid to late 1990s.
