Georgia bandit Matt Linder grabbed the point at the start of the USCS main event at Carolina Speedway. Linder kept reigning series champion Terry Gray at bay for all 30 laps to post the $2,000 victory. Gray’s teammate Morgan Turpen took third while Cherryville’s racer Johnny Bridges finished fourth. Gray won the night’s opening Good Year Sprint Dash.

“We decided to try something we’ve been wanting to do all year long and it worked,” said Linder in victory lane. “It’s our second win here. We love coming to Carolina; it’s a really neat racetrack.”

In the hotly-contested NDRA GM Performance main event, it was Chester, S.C.’s Chris Cantrell claiming the bounty of Ron Parker. Cantrell led flag-to-flag in a 20-lap main event that saw three-wide competition from start to finish. Ross Bailes, the night’s fastest qualifier with a lap time of 17.884, survived a mid-race tangle with Parker to take second.

“I think this is the first race I ever finished at Carolina. The money brought us here and the track was pretty hammer-down,” said Cantrell. “We’re going to Alabama next week for the NeSmith series, but we’ll be back.”

In the Thunder Sportsman main event, points leader Bryan Mullis notched another 2011 victory.

“The race went by fast--it was a good win. I want to thank Barfield Grading who just came on board with us,” said Mullis.

Stanley’s Manuel Johnson held off Danny Bohn to capture his second straight Open Wheel Modifieds main event.

Dirt Knights giving “15 Minutes of Fame” to fan club members

SOLWAY, Minn. — To celebrate their recently launched fan club, the Dirt Knights are making room for one more star on the show … and it might be you!

Through the end of June, anybody who has joined the Dirt Knights Fan Club at the Crew Chief, Championship or V.I.P. level prior to July 1 will be entered in the “15 Minutes of Fame” lottery where the Dirt Knights will select two members at random who will be invited to one of the Dirt Knights filmed events this year!

What’s more, each of the lucky winners will also be “knighted” as an Honorary Crew Member of any Dirt Knights team they choose and given a cameo appearance in that episode!

Entries will be based on your fan club level: Crew Chief Members get 1 entry, Championship Members get 2 entries and V.I.P. Members get 5 entries in the lottery.

But the Dirt Knights aren’t leaving anybody out of the action. In addition, everybody that joins at ANY LEVEL prior to July 1 will be entered into a drawing for a free brand new race suit, courtesy of Hinchman Race Suits.

As the oldest maker of driver suits, the Hinchman team has the experience, ability and desire to continually improve the protection of our drivers. Learn more at www.hinchmanracewear.com .

If you want to be a Dirt Knight, now is the time! Support the cause and be a part of the show. Go to  www.dirtknights.com/fanclub.asp and sign up today!

The Dirt Knights Fan Club gives fans of the show a front row seat to all the action and their favorite Dirt Knights driver while supporting the financial commitments to keep Dirt Knights and grassroots racing showcased for yet another season.

Five different levels ranging from $25 to $500 are available to fit any dirt track racing fan’s budget.
