SWISH sweeps through the streets of Bonners Ferry
Seventy teams registered to participate in SWISH in downtown Bonners Ferry over the weekend, continuing what is sure to be a summer tradition for many years.
This is the fourth year of the three against three street ball tournament was held. It has become quite the event changes each year as it grows. There were 269 basketball players braving the streets of Bonners Ferry.
This year, volunteers have performed online, updated every hour as the games are in progress, so that families of the teams that have traveled a long way can keep track of what is happening.
Ron Sukenik of Bonners Ferry Rotary Club and first-year director Swish stresses was to have the whole community come together.
"It takes a community to put on an event like this, sponsors and volunteers, he could not take place without everyone was there and all the sponsors we had," said Sukenik.
More than 100 volunteers from across the border of the county volunteered to make this event a showcase northwest.
Former Harlem Globetrotters of Seth Franco, entertained the crowd with classics Globetrotter talent. Franco, a resident is married to former Bonners Ferry, Sarah Parlow.
Companies got into the groove, as Jill, in the sun, blueberries, and Chevy Riverside, responded to the crowd.
Mike Naumann Kootenai Brewing Company, opened a beer garden after the game Saturday.
And while the focus was on the basketball defintely there were other activities, including a huge hit with children, climbing a mountain inhabited by the Idaho National Guard in a room and a rebound enormous wave.
Team No Blood No Glory remained undefeated to claim the division from 90 to 10 boys and Gals K won the girls 90-10 division.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling won 13-14 Flower Power division and won the girls 15-16 division. Later, Lavender & Roses won the women's division of 19-35, the Wolfpack took the 11-12 division male and Secret victorious winning the division 36 + men.

Participating teams were in the nine through 10 years of the old women's division Gals K. Team members were Kelsey English, Grace Villella, Leilani Ram and Amanda Maggi.
Within 9 to 10 years old boys Loggers Division team were Jay Beagle, McElmurry and Dawson Ryker Young.Division winners were the team No Blood No Glory with members of Dylan Hittle, Kemeren Hill, Kenny Drew Foster and Branson.
In the 11-12 girls division, Jadin Tucker, Avery Lane, Jordan Young, Nicole Hensley made up the team Bandits Loca. The shots were hot Nicole Donn Bonners Ferry, Grace Coughlin, Melissa and Brianna Cliza Kimpe. Cassie Madden, Ketelyn Bennett, Rhoades and Jade team up Kiss My Pass, and team players were Kmak Kassy Skeen, Maggi Pluid, Abbie Byars and Kinzie Unruh. Sidney Stevenson, Shannon Reny, Kllalyn Hageness, Jillani Hawthore up Little loggers.The sweet Swishin 'consisted of Mykal Copeland, Jarreka Byars, Whitney Olson and Makallah Dowell. Timberlake Tigers Lilly Kelley, Stephanie Bremer, Matraca Rocheleau and McKeeley Tonkihn. The team called Wired consisted of girls through Kirscher, Rebecca Zufelt, Maysun Wellsandt and Jocie Osika.
