Little or no tooth preparation required

For traditional porcelain veneers, the tooth must be shaved down, to make room for the veneer. But with Lumineers, that isnt necessary, because Lumineers are extra thin. They are often compared to contact lenses in their delicate thinness.

Thinness does not mean weakness however. Although all porcelain, by itself, is brittle, it is strong after its been bonded to the tooth. Tooth and veneer become one entity, with the veneer providing a new glossy surface, and the tooth supporting the veneer. A reversible procedure

Because Lumineers are just that bit thinner than standard porcelain veneers, and the tooth needs no shaving down, the whole procedure is reversible. The tooth behind the Lumineer is still intact.
