Documentary on 'Gone With the Wind' author Mitchell to premiere in Macon
MACON, Ga. — A screening of a documentary on "Gone With the Wind" author Margaret Mitchell will premiere at the Douglass Theater in Macon this week.
The screening of Georgia Public Broadcasting's "Margaret Mitchell: American Rebel" will include a panel discussion on the author's life and work.
Mitchell spoke in Macon at the Hotel Dempsey a few weeks before her famous novel was published in 1936. A newspaper article the next day described how Mitchell "enchanted the more than 200 guests with her informality and her subtle humor."
The film is Wednesday at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. Tickets are between $35 and $75.
