Readers: Help with a decor problem; pick out a home for a lifetime
Readers recently shared a conundrum and thoughts on finding the perfect home:First, the conundrum:
Bobbi Hardcastle's quandary is not uncommon. When the Hardcastles built their home in Lake Oswego in 1987, they included large windows in the family room for a great view, she wrote, of her "beautiful large" wooded backyard and deck. Now she'd like to add some window treatments but doesn't want to hinder the view of her yard. The five windows are 78 inches by 38 inches and bring plenty of natural light into the room, but not too much direct light as they face northeast. Hardcastle says she loves texture and color and is ready for suggestions.

Here are thoughts on picking out the perfect home.
We bought our last (hopefully) home on the premise it would be "Senior Proof." What we looked for and attained for our senior years:
1. House must be one level.
2. All entrance doors wide enough for a wheelchair.
3. Entrances to the outside low enough for a ramp if needed.
3. Proximity to a grocery store, church and freeway.
4. No hardwood floors! Hardwood floors are bone breakers.
5. A friendly neighbor to assist, if necessary.
6. Kitchen stove low enough to reach over to second pot easily.
7. A fire extinguisher just under the stove.
8. A walk-in shower with a stool. No common bathtub.
9. Exceptional lighting in the bathroom and kitchen.
10. A ladder is a no-no.
So far, we are retired and able to function without any accidents.

Austin is a beautiful town, unfortunately inhabited by lots of silly stoners who really belong in Portland, OR. How very odd. Houston is FIFTY miles from Galveston and those “cool Gulf breezes” kind of peter out by the time they arrive here.

From upholstery, dining room lamps and tables and wall décor to window treatments, paint, wallpaper and carpeting, Director worked to create a cohesive palate that was light, traditional and appealing to Mary's Woods residents – “nothing too floral or

Reviews:Beautiful Windows We had several window companies come out to our house to give us bids. Although all the companies seemed to promise the same level of service and product quality, All Seasons prices blew the competition out of the water. They installed 13 windows for us in about 3 weeks after signing the contract and we couldn’t be happier with their service and the quality of their product. The windows transformed the look and overall comfort of our entire home. I would recommend All Seasons to anyone.
Reviews:Old Victorian style house with single pane windows … I got the windows in the main room replaces and they are WAY better than I imagine they would have been.. YAY FOR WARM WINTER!
Reviews:A company that pays attention to the details! All Season Windows came out to our home after we had several other Portland Window companies give us bids. They were kind, didn’t put pressure on us, and gave us excellent service. “Beautiful windows and siding in record time! My two story house was in dire need of new siding, since it is older and was badly deteriorated, along with five windows. A friend of mine recommended All Season Windows, and after meeting one of their knowledgeable and charming

Reviews:Not a good choice for window treatments We chose Bolliger to purchase the window treatments for our NW condo. We had a bit of design challenge because some of the windows had a slant. Wendy did not know how to deal with that. Instead, she simply insisted on selling us the most”Knowledgeable, professional and cost … Very happy with the service and the products themselves from Bolliger. We just moved into our newly remodeled home and were in desperate need of window coverings.
